Jamie is always very helpful; Nick is good for a chat and bringing me items on the fly and Jim always giving words of wisdom. Deliveries always prompt and exact. My name is Tommy Gallo and I currently own two businesses, Gallo’s Tap Room on Bethel Road, and Gallo’s Kitchen and Bar on Nottingham Road in Upper Arlington. The Tap Room opened November 2004, and from the beginning, I have been with Sanfillipo Produce. Admittedly, I chose Sanfillipo because my family knew Jim, and to be quite honest, because they were Italian. In the six plus years of the Tap Room’s operation, Sanfillipo Produce has been one of the few purveyors that I can honestly say I have had absolutely zero issues with. My Produce orders range from as large as hundreds of dollars to simply forgetting something and only needing as little as one item. Jim has apparently set the same standards of practice with his sales force that he and his son Jamie both share. It is for that very reason that when I opened The Kitchen, there was never a moment that I considered doing so without Sanfillipo as part of my team. I have a greater range of creative freedom at the Restaurant than I did at the Bar, and Sanfillipo embraced that creativity, and has continued to provide unique and high quality produce as I grow. I look especially forward to Jim’s weekly emails this summer when he again goes to the Amish Markets. Initially, I dealt with Jim almost on a weekly basis; however more recently, I now deal with Rob Ditillio. Rob is not just a salesman, rather, a former industry legend that knows what my side of the business as a chef is like, as he spent years as a well know chef for restaurants in the Columbus area, including Lindy’s. Rob has not only listened to my needs as a Chef, but has often gone as far as to suggest recipes and ideas when unique produce comes along. Rob takes the time to stop by once a week and simply check in on me, something that as an owner, I value greatly. On the rare occasion that there is a problem with the order, a simple phone call remedies any and all issues I have ever had, and that may be the most amazing part about Sanfillipo Produce.
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Jamie, Jim’s son as well over the past six years and I assure you that the Sanfillipo family is unified and dedicated to their principals, work ethic, and dedication to service.
Lastly, something that many new customers may not think about when dealing with a new purveyor, the drivers. Sanfillipo’s drivers are incredibly attentive to my requirements upon delivery, such as where and how I want things, verifying the order accuracy, and informing me of any changes or substitutions. I find it amazing that the level of attention that you would expect an owner to have, is echoed throughout the company, all the way to the drivers. In closing, I would not only recommend Sanfillipo Produce as the model for how a company should do business, I would also endorse them as a necessary asset in helping any business succeed.
I work 95+ hours a week and my time is extremely valuable to me. Upon receiving Sanfillipo Produce request for a letter of reference, I cancelled two meetings, rearranged my day, and immediately sat down at the computer, and sent this letter back…

I would like to tell you the way I feel about your company. I have been buying from Sanfillipo Produce since June of 2005. The quality of the product is the best. The delivery and sales staff are always there to help and give you the best service that I have seen. I have been the executive chef at a private country club in Columbus for five years when I started having problems with my produce company. During those 5 years, salesman Nick McDonald would come and visit me
every week bringing me price sheets and saying if I ever needed anything just give him a chance. Well June 3rd of 2009 turned out to be his chance. I hade mailed the owner of the company was using and told him about the
problems I was having, and his response was "do what you have to do." Two years later I have no regrets about switching to Sanfillipo produce.
